Kratom and Constipation

While kratom has many positive health benefits for the body, there may be one issue that a person has trouble with if they are not using kratom as direction. Some users have reported that kratom has left them constipated and they start considering quitting kratom. There is some information about kratom and constipation and how to avoid this side effect.

Kratom and Constipation Basic Information

When a person is using kratom, they must follow all dosing recommendations. If a person is using too much kratom or too frequently, constipation is a side effect. The body is reducing the activity that the kratom is causing in the intestines. It will stop the formation of stool, and a person will become constipated.

How to Deal with Constipation from Kratom

If a person is suffering from kratom-related constipation, there are some things they can do to find relief.

Drink More Fluids

Constipation is said to have less than three bowel movements each week. It normally takes between 12 and 72 hours for a person to digest food and past it. If the food has trouble passing through the colon, the waste can absorb too much water and become stuck. One of the best ways to deal with this issue is to drink more water. Water will keep the food flowing through the digesting track. If a person is having constipation issues from kratom, they should drink at least 8 glasses of water each day.

Mineral Oil

Mineral oil is a natural way to prevent constipation. This oil will help coat stool and will help coat the intestines. A person should not use this oil before a meal. They can take around 4 tablespoons a day to stay regular. This will help if they are experiencing constipation from kratom.

Exercise

Exercise will help with the activity in the intestines, and a person should exercise on the days that they are going to use the kratom. They can go for a walk or follow a regular exercise program. This will help support the bowel function, and a person will not have to worry about constipation when they are using kratom. Exercise will help support overall health. A person may notice that exercise, along with kratom will increase mood and decrease stress levels.

Continued Use

If a person is suffering from constipation, they do not have to completely stop using kratom. They should reduce their dosage of kratom and the frequency at which they use it. A person should also be aware of other factors that may be affecting their digestive tract and work on these issues before they use the kratom.

Is kratom harmful?

Generally, kratom is not harmful. It is a herb and all-natural. Like any herb, there may be mild side effects, and constipation is one of them. Kratom is safe to use as recommended, and when used as directed, there will be little to no side effects.

Relief

If a person notices they are still becoming constipated after using kratom there are some things they can do. A person should make sure they are drinking plenty of water when they are using kratom. They can also get moving and get at least 30 minutes of exercise. This will help with peristaltic movement and will help the bowels. If a person still has constipation issues after 36 hours, they can use a gentle laxative.

Kratom may lead to constipation, but there can be other factors that can also make constipation worse. They help prevent constipation from kratom, and a person should use it as directed. This way they can enjoy the positive effects of the kratom without experiencing constipation.
