What Are SARMs?

Short for Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator, SARMS are mostly supplements that improve androgen levels (the male hormone). They work by binding themselves with androgen receptors. These receptors then signal the body to build more muscles, all the while shredding the extra fat.

The original intent of SARMs was to help cancer patients who were suffering from muscle loss. The idea was to give them a coping mechanism. These supplements were first developed in the early 1900s.

They were, however, quickly shelved due to the lack of research. However, in the 90s, the research to test their effectiveness resumed, and now they are back on the market.

Ligand Pharmaceuticals became the first company to launch SARMS for the first time. The most popular ones from the company being LGD-403. After that, many companies followed suit such as Ostarine, Testolone, etc.

How Are SARMS Different From Steroids?

If you look at their functioning, SARMS works much in the same way as steroids. Both of them bind to the androgen receptors in the brain, which leads to a series of actions that make your muscles grow. However, despite this similarity, both are poles apart and completely different.

Steroids are a blunt tool. They do not work selectively. They impact other parts of the body as well, which sets into motion a series of side-effects. It’s not uncommon for people to have issues like acne, hair loss, and prostate issues, all of which are side-effects of steroids.

SARMs don’t work that way. Because they function in a ’tissue-selective’ way, they target only the muscles without causing any other undesired series of reactions that the body does not need. Also, unlike steroids that are injected, SARMs are taken orally in the form of a pill. The only downside is that neither is approved by the FDA for human consumption. That is why you should always buy from a trusted company such as Select Sarms.

What Are the Benefits of SARMs?

One of the biggest concerns users have with any supplement is its effects on the liver. SARMS are thought to be mild on the human liver. They don’t show any toxicity on the liver. The effects on the blood pressure are negligible too. All of this removes the need for preloading supplements and on-cycle support.

LGD4033-Anabolicum-Ligandrol

It’s supposed to help prevent muscle wasting. Sarms like this are supposed to be great for promoting bone health, stronger joints, and soft tissues. If your goal is to gain weight, then this is good for you. One of the things about SARMS as supplements is that you begin to see results even at a low dosage.

The dosage is around 20-25 mg. This particular SARM has so far gone through the most number of clinical trials.

RAD140-Testolone

Is it Safe to Use SARMS?

These supplements are tricky. That’s because even though you’ll find promising research to stipulate their health benefits, the research is still pretty limited. Also, it’s not an industry that is regulated by any government body, including the FDA.

In the absence of such regulation, you’re likely to come across fake products that could potentially be harmful. That is why you need to be vigilant and procure your product only from a legitimate, trusted source.

In Conclusion

Despite being a rather controversial industry, SARMS has established itself as a fast-selling supplement. It’s clear that their benefits are plenty.

But, due to dysregulation, it’s highly likely that you could experience some side-effects. That is why you need to be careful when buying them. It’s also good to talk to your physician before including them in your routine.
